Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

My mind is the dust under the feet of the holy ones.

The Guru has planted the sweet Naam of the One, Har, Har, firmly in me. I would dust the Guru's feet with my hair.

Humility is reverence and thanks.
The deeper layer

Hold the holy ones in deep respect, and be thankful for the sweet Naam the Guru planted in you.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. mayraa man saaDhoo Dhoor ravaal — my mind is the dust of the feet of the holy ones. Dust sounds small, but think about it. It is soft, it is everywhere, and it never complains. Being dust here means deep respect.

har har naam darirh-aa-i-o gur meethaa — the Guru has planted the sweet Naam firmly inside me. gur pag jhaarah ham baal — and I would dust the Guru's feet with my own hair.

Think of a student who happily carries a favorite teacher's books without being asked. They are simply thankful. The sweet Naam brings out that kind of overflowing thanks.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you're so grateful for that no thank-you feels big enough?
