Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Chant the Name of Raam, the One, and worship deep within yourself.

Think deeply on the Guru's Word, and on nothing else.

The truest worship happens quietly inside your own heart.
The deeper layer

Worship happens deep inside you.

The verse says raam naam jap antar poojaa: remember the Name, and worship within. It turns worship inward. It does not point to any object outside. That fits the teaching that the One is in everything.

Then gur sabad veechaar avar nahee doojaa: think deeply on the Guru's Word, and on no other. Veechaar means turning something over in your mind. It is like hunting all over the house for your glasses while they sit on your head. What you need, you already carry inside.

A Question to Sit With

What is something meaningful you can do that no one else even needs to see?
