In plain words

Whoever bathes the mind in the sweet water of wisdom carries the good of all sixty-eight holy places of pilgrimage.

The Guru's teachings are gems and jewels. The Sikh who serves searches for them and finds them.

The washing that matters most is bathing your mind in clear wisdom.
The deeper layer

Bathing your mind in wisdom brings the good of every holy river.

In his time, people traveled far to bathe at holy rivers and pools. There were said to be sixty-eight great ones, the athsath tirath. Guru Nanak honors that journey. Then he points it inward. Amrit neer gi-aan man majan means "the mind bathes in the sweet, life-giving water of wisdom." That one washing brings the good of all sixty-eight places.

Think of the best library in the world. You could fly across the ocean to visit it. Or you could open a great book right at your kitchen table. The wisdom is the same.

Gur updays javaahar maanak means "the Guru's teachings are gems and rubies." Sayvay sikh so khoj lahai means "the Sikh, the learner, who serves with love, searches and finds them." This cleansing bath is open to anyone, anywhere. No journey is needed.
