In plain words

I come to You with no good qualities to offer. Forgive me, my Master, and bless me. Bring me close to You Yourself.

You are endless; no one has ever found Your limits. Through the Word, You give understanding.

You don't have to earn your way in; you come with empty hands and are received.
The deeper layer

You can come to the endless One with empty hands, and the One takes you in and gives understanding.

Nirgunee-aaray ka-o bakhas lai su-aamee means, Master, forgive the one who has no good qualities to show. Nirgunee-aaray means someone without merits. But this is not about feeling bad about yourself. It is about coming honestly, with nothing to trade. Aapay laihu milaa-ee means You Yourself take me in.

Why empty hands? Too bi-ant means You are endless. Tayraa ant na paa-i-aa means no one has found Your edge. Something that big cannot be bought or earned. You can only be welcomed. Think of a grandparent's hug. You do not pay for it. You just walk in the door.

Sabday dayh bujhaa-ee means through the Word, the sabad, You give understanding.

A Question to Sit With

Is there something you've been trying to earn that you could simply receive instead?
