Hidden in Every Heart

Prabhaatee:
ਅਕੁਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇਕੁ ਚਲਿਤੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
akul purakh ik chalit upaa-i-aa.
The Primal Being has no ancestry; He has staged this play.
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਲੁਕਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
ghat ghat antar barahm lukaa-i-aa. ||1||
God is hidden deep within each and every heart. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The Primal One has no family line, and has set up this whole world like a play.

The One is hidden deep inside each and every heart.

The uncaused source of everything is also tucked quietly inside every heart.
The deeper layer

The One who has no beginning is hiding inside every heart.

Bhagat Namdev calls the One akul: with no family line, and nothing before it. The One set the world going like a chalit, a play.

Then comes the surprise: ghat ghat antar barahm lukaa-i-aa. The One is tucked away deep inside every single heart. It is like a game of hide-and-seek where the one hiding is inside every player.

The huge, uncaused Source and the quiet presence in your heart are the same One, seen from two ends.

A Question to Sit With

If the One is hidden in every heart, whose heart might surprise you?
