ਕਾਇਆ ਨਗਰਿ ਵਸਿਓ ਘਰਿ ਮੰਦਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਪਫਾ ॥
kaa-i-aa nagar vasi-o ghar mandar jap sobhaa gurmukh karpafaa.
The Lord abides in the body-village, in my home and mansion. As Gurmukh, I meditate on His Glory.
ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਜਨ ਭਏ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤਰਫਾ ॥੨॥
halat palat jan bha-ay suhaylay mukh oojal gurmukh tarfaa. ||2||
Here and hereafter, the Lord's humble servants are embellished and exalted; their faces are radiant; as Gurmukh, they are carried across. ||2||

In plain words

The One lives in the village of my body, in its home and its temple. Turning toward the Guru, I remember the One's glory.

Here and in the life beyond, the One's people are made beautiful and honored. Their faces shine. Turning toward the Guru, they are carried across.

When the One lives at home in you, ease shows on the outside too.
The deeper layer

The One lives right inside your own body, and that inner home shows as ease and a shining face.

kaa-i-aa nagar vasi-o ghar mandar — the One lives in the kaa-i-aa nagar, the "body-village," in its homes and temples. jap sobhaa gurmukh karpafaa — facing the Guru, I sing of the One's glory.

halat palat jan bha-ay suhaylay — here and in the life beyond, the One's people are suhaylay, at ease. mukh oojal — their faces shine. That glow on the outside comes from peace on the inside. gurmukh tarfaa — and they are carried safely across.

Think of a house with its lights on at night. You can see the glow from the street, because something warm is happening inside.
