In plain words

Serving the True Guru, doubt goes away.

Those lovingly tuned to the True One stay awake and aware, night and day.

They know the One, and no other.

Serving the Giver of peace, they become spotless and pure.

Being awake means staying tuned to the True One, day and night.
The deeper layer

Serving the Guru clears doubt and keeps you awake to the One, day and night.

Satgur sayvay bharam chukaa-ay means that by following the true Guru, doubt goes away.

An-din jaagai means awake night and day. This is not about never sleeping. It means being alert inside, the way a good goalkeeper stays ready even when the ball is far away. You stay tuned to what is true.

Ayko jaanai avar na ko-ay means knowing the One and no other. This is seeing that everything is one.

The One is the sukh-daata, the Giver of peace. Serving the Giver, a person becomes nirmal, clear and clean inside, like a window after a wash.

A Question to Sit With

What does it mean to you to be 'awake' even when nothing exciting is happening?
