Built and Unbuilt in an Instant

ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪੇ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਸਭਿ ਕਰਤੇ ਕੇ ਕਾਰਨਾ ॥੨॥
khin meh thaap uthaapay kudrat sabh kartay kay kaarnaa. ||2||
In an instant, He establishes and disestablishes, by His Creative Power. All is the Creation of the Creator. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

In a single moment the One can build up or take apart.

All of it — everything that rises and everything that falls — is the One's own making.

Everything that rises and falls moves within one hand.
The deeper layer

The One can build up or take apart in a moment, and all of it is the One's making.

Khin meh thaap uthaapay means that in an instant, the One sets things up and takes them down. Kudrat is the One's creative power. It is nature itself, the wind, the rain and the growing things. Kartay kay kaarnaa means all of it is the Maker's doing.

Think of the sea building a sandbar in the night and washing it away by the next morning. There is huge power under the calm. And there is comfort here too: all of it comes from one loving hand.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you stay steady when things change fast?
