Beyond All Counting

ਬੇਸੁਮਾਰ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧੭॥
baysumaar bay-ant su-aamee naanak bal bal jaa-ee. ||17||
The Lord Master is unlimited and endless; Nanak is a sacrifice, a sacrifice to Him. ||17||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The Master is beyond all counting, without any edge or end.

Nanak says: I give myself to that One, again and again, in wonder and love.

Faced with the endless One, the heart gives itself over again and again.
The deeper layer

Baysumaar bay-ant: measureless, endless. Bal bal jaa-ee means offering oneself again and again, an old way of saying "I give my whole self to You" in wonder and devotion. Facing something without limit, the heart answers with love that forgets itself.

A Question to Sit With

What is so vast that it fills you with wonder?
