The Fruit of the Sangat

ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਇਹੁ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਇਕੁ ਕੇਵਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੀ ॥੪॥
saaDhoo sangat ih fal paa-i-aa ik kayval naam aDhaaree. ||4||
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I have obtained this fruit, the Support of the One Name alone. ||4||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

In the Sangat, I have found this fruit:

I lean on one thing only, the Naam of the One.

In the Sangat you learn to lean on the one thing that holds.
The deeper layer

Saadhoo sangat is the Sangat, people gathered together to remember the One, one of Sikhi's central supports. Its fal (fruit) is simplicity itself: learning to lean on ik kayval naam, the Naam alone, instead of a hundred scattered props. Being with the Sangat narrows the many wants down to the one thing that holds.

A Question to Sit With

Who helps you focus on what matters most?
