Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Listen, my Sikhs, my children, my family: it is the One's will that I now go to the One.
The Guru gladly welcomed the One's will, and the One cheered him on.
Whoever loves the One's will is a true devotee, the True Guru himself.
The unstruck music of bliss rings out, and the One draws him into a close embrace.
My children, my family, look carefully in your hearts and see.
The order written from the very beginning cannot be turned back: the Guru is going to be with the One.
The Guru gathers his family and says, gently, that it is time for him to go home to the One.
Mayray sikh sunhu put bhaa-eeho means "listen, my Sikhs, my children, my family." A Sikh is a learner, a student of the Guru.
His calm comes from bhaanaa bhaav-ay: loving what is, and finding even this moment sweet. The verse hears anhad music. That means the "unstruck" sound, music that plays with no instrument at all. And the One pulls the soul into a close hug.
Dhur likhi-aa parvaanaa means an order written from the very beginning, which cannot be turned back. It is not bad news. It is like the last page of a good book. The story is not broken. It is finished.
What helps you stay calm when something is out of your hands?
