In plain words

Remembering the One is an ocean of peace; Your devotees sing Your goodness, my One.

Joy and great happiness come to those who hold on to the Guru's feet, and they find deep peace.

They meet the treasure of peace and their pain is taken away; in kindness the One protects them.

Holding on to the One's feet, their doubt and fear run away, and the Naam of the One is on their tongue.

They think of the One alone, sing of the One alone, and see the One alone.

Nanak prays: the One was kind, and I found the perfect True Guru.

A mind that keeps returning to one thing can grow as calm as a still sea.
The deeper layer

Sukh saagar is the ocean of peace, the opposite image to bhavjal, the fearsome ocean. Where the mind is scattered, remembrance gathers it: har ayk chitvai ... har ayk daristee aa-i-aa — one Lord thought, one Lord sung, one Lord seen. The perfect Guru (pooraa satgur) is met by grace (prabh karee kirpaa), not achievement.

A Question to Sit With

What thought, returned to often, brings your mind to rest?
