Is there any humble Saint, any friend, O Nanak, who can lead me to meet with God? ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Thirsty with longing, I wander; when will I see the Lord of the world?

Nanak says: is there a friend, a saint, who can bring me to meet the One?

Sometimes the way to what you long for is through a friend who has been there.
The deeper layer

Aas pi-aasee — thirsty with hope; the seeker's longing. The plea is for a saajan sant — a friend among the saints who can guide the meeting; again and again in the Ruti, we reach the One with the help of holy friends.

A Question to Sit With

Who could help you toward something you have been longing for?
