In plain words

The One made the pull of two-ness, the feeling that the world is split from the One, and the three moods, busy, calm, and dull, that run through everything.

The One made Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, and they do their work within the One's flow.

Scholars and astrologers read and read, but they do not grasp what it means to reflect deeply.

Everything is Your play, O True Creator.

Whoever pleases You, You forgive, and they merge into the True Word.

You can read every book and still miss the knowing that lives off the page.
The deeper layer

Duality and the three gunas (the three modes that pervade the world) are themselves created by the One, and even Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva act only by its Will, an even-handed placing of the great deities inside the one Oneness. Book-learning is contrasted with veechaar, contemplation, that no scholar reaches by study alone. Khel, the wondrous play, frames creation, and it all comes home in forgiveness and merger.

A Question to Sit With

What do you understand that you could never learn from a book?
