aap nihchal achal hai hor aavahi jaaveh.
He Himself is eternal, unchanging and unmoving; the others continue coming and going in reincarnation.

Meditating on the Lord forever and ever, the Gurmukh finds peace.

He dwells in the home of his own inner being, absorbed in the Praise of the True Lord.

The True Lord is profound and unfathomable; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, He is understood. ||8||

In plain words

The One stays untouched forever, while everyone else runs after busy things.

The One is steady and never moves, while the others keep coming and going.

Keep the One in mind forever and ever. Those who follow the Guru find peace.

You come to live in the home of your own heart, wrapped up in praise of the True One.

The True One is deep beyond all measuring, and is understood through the Guru's Word.

At the center of all the rushing sits a stillness you can share.
The deeper layer

The One's changeless freedom stands against the restless flux of everything else, and then that stillness turns inward: turning to the One, the seeker finds peace in the home of his own being. The unfathomable is not left remote, the Shabad slowly makes it understandable, keeping even the deepest calm within reach.

A Question to Sit With

Where is the calm center inside your busiest days?
