Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The Jeweller has come and opened the bag of jewels.
The goods and the merchant have become one.
Nanak says: only those with virtue in their purse can buy the gem.
Those who do not see the worth of the jewels wander through the world as if blind.
The treasure is on the table, you trade for it with the virtue you have gathered.
The Jeweller opens the bag of jewels, and the truth is laid out in plain view. The ones who buy are those with virtue in their purse. The merchant merging with the merchandise is a small picture of oneness: to buy this jewel is to become one with it. Those who cannot see its worth wander past unaware.
A Question to Sit With
What have you gathered inside that could be worth more than money?
