Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Blessed is that time, blessed that hour, blessed that second, precious that instant;

blessed is that day and that chance when I saw the Guru face to face.

The wishes of my mind came true when I found the One, beyond reach and beyond measure.

Ego and clinging fell away, and I lean only on the True Naam.

Nanak says: whoever gives themselves to serving the One — the whole world is saved along with them.

One person who serves the One can lift the whole world.
The deeper layer

The blessed-instant litany (dhan so vaylaa) fixes the memory of the turning point — the darshan that changed everything. Egotism and attachment fall away; the heart leans only on the True Name. In the closing line sits one of the Vaar's great themes: the one who serves saves not only themselves but everyone around them.

A Question to Sit With

Can you think of one person whose goodness makes everyone near them better?
