Whoever keeps You in mind has peace forever.
Whoever keeps You in mind is not troubled by death.
Whoever keeps You in mind is free of worry.
Whoever has the Maker as a friend finds every task set right.
Whoever keeps You in mind is welcomed and respected.
Whoever keeps You in mind is rich indeed.
Whoever keeps You in mind has a great family.
Whoever keeps You in mind lifts up even those who came before.
Gift after gift comes to anyone who keeps the One in mind.
The verse is built like a chant. Line after line starts the same way: jis too aavahi chit — "the one who holds You in mind." Chit means the mind, your inner attention. Keeping the One in mind like this is called simran, remembering.
Then each line names a gift. Tis no sadaa sukh — they have peace that lasts. Tis jam naahi dukh — the jam cannot trouble them. The jam is the messenger of death in old stories. Here it means that the fear of death loses its grip. Tis ke kaarhi-aa — they do not stew in worry.
Jis daa kartaa mitar sabh kaaj savaari-aa — whoever has the Creator as a friend finds things working out.
And the good spreads. Tin kul uDhaari-aa — it lifts the whole family, even those who came before.
Think of a stone dropped in a pond. The ripples go out and out, to every shore. A heart that holds the One sends out ripples like that.
What is one thing that always helps you feel less worried?
