kaljug Dharam kalaa ik rahaa-ay.
In the Iron Age of Kali Yuga, Dharma was left with only one power.
ik pair chalai maa-i-aa moh vaDhaa-ay.
It walks on just one foot; love and emotional attachment to Maya have increased.
maa-i-aa moh at bubaar.
Love and emotional attachment to Maya bring total darkness.
satgur bhaytai naam uDhaar. ||4||
If someone meets the True Guru, he is saved, through the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
In the Iron Age, goodness is left with only one strength.
It walks on one foot, and love of things, of stuff and having more, grows and grows.
That grasping brings a deep darkness.
Whoever meets the True Guru is saved through the Naam.
Even in the darkest age, the Naam carries whoever meets the True Guru.
The fourth age is the current one in the old scheme, where dharam is reduced to one foot and maa-i-aa moh (attachment to the passing world) brings gubaar, a kind of gloom. Despair does not get the last word: satgur bhaytai naam udhaar — whoever meets the True Guru is saved through the Naam, so no age can trap you.
