Sikhism·Raag Raamkalee·Shabad 12
Verse 6 of 7

The Same One, All the Way Through

sabh jug meh saachaa ayko so-ee.
Throughout the ages, there is only the One True Lord.
sabh meh sach doojaa nahee ko-ee.
Among all, is the True Lord; there is no other at all.
saachee keerat sach sukh ho-ee.
Praising the True Lord, true peace is attained.
gurmukh naam vakhaanai ko-ee. ||5||
How rare are those, who as Gurmukh, chant the Naam. ||5||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Through all the ages, there is only the One, the True One.

The True One is in everyone and everything; there is no other at all.

Praising the True One brings true peace. Rare are those who turn to the Guru and keep the Naam on their lips.

Behind every changing age, the same One holds steady.
The deeper layer

Saachaa ayko so-ee — the one True runs unbroken through all the ages, quietly undoing the whole story of decline: reality does not degrade over time. Sabh meh sach, the True is in all — the same vision the Japji sings. Keerat is praise, kirtan; here it opens straight into sach sukh, a real and lasting peace.

A Question to Sit With

What is something that stays the same no matter how much else changes?
