ਸਭ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਊਤਮੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
sabh jug meh naam ootam ho-ee.
Throughout all the ages, the Naam is the ultimate, the most sublime.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
gurmukh virlaa boojhai ko-ee.
How rare are those, who as Gurmukh, understand this.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਭਗਤੁ ਜਨੁ ਸੋਈ ॥
har naam Dhi-aa-ay bhagat jan so-ee.
One who meditates on the Lord's Name is a humble devotee.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹੋਈ ॥੬॥੧॥
naanak jug jug naam vadi-aa-ee ho-ee. ||6||1||
O Nanak, in each and every age, the Naam is glory and greatness. ||6||1||

In all the ages, the Naam is the highest of all.
Rare are those who turn to the Guru and understand this.
Whoever meditates on the Naam is a true devotee.
Nanak says: in every age, the Naam is glory and greatness.
You were not born too late — the Name is highest in every age, including yours.
Jug jug naam vadi-aa-ee — age after age, the Name is glory. Nobody was born into a worse time. The Name levels all the ages; this moment is as good a time to begin as any that ever was.
