The Good Shine, Even When Some Sneer

The Lord's people are good and sublime; the unfortunate ones do not like them at all.
ji-o ji-o raam kaheh jan oochay nar nindak dans lagaa-ay. ||3||
The more the Lord's exalted servants speak of Him, the more the slanderers attack and sting them. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The One's people are good and noble, but the unlucky ones do not like them at all.

The more these high-souled servants speak of the One, the more the slanderers attack them and try to sting them.

The good keep shining even when a few try to sting.
The deeper layer

Goodness sometimes provokes; that is a fact of the world. Nindak is one who tears others down; dans is a sting, like an insect’s. The sting is real, and still it never dims the light it is aimed at.

If someone is being unkind to you or hurting you, that is never something you have to accept. Telling a grown-up you trust is always the right thing to do.

A Question to Sit With

How do you stay kind when someone is unkind to you?
