Raamkalee, Fifth Mehl:
aavat harakh na jaavat dookhaa nah bi-aapai man rognee.
Coming does not please me, and going does not bring me pain, and so my mind is not afflicted by disease.
sadaa anand gur pooraa paa-i-aa ta-o utree sagal bi-oganee. ||1||
I am in bliss forever, for I have found the Perfect Guru; my separation from the Lord is totally ended. ||1||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
When things come, I don't get swept away, and when they go, I don't hurt — so my mind is not sick with ups and downs.
I am in joy forever, for I have found the Perfect Guru, and my separation from the One is completely over.
When you're not thrown by things arriving or leaving, your mind stays well.
Aavat harakh na jaavat dookhaa — neither thrilled by arrival nor crushed by loss — is the steadiness of sahaj. Man rognee names the mind's sickness of ups and downs, now healed; bi-oganee, the sense of separation, has ended.
A Question to Sit With
What helps you stay steady when something you like comes to an end?
