Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Remember your Master, day and night.
This patched coat of a body lasts only a few days.
The body lasts a few days; remember the One day and night.
Remember the One day and night, because the body is worn for only a few days.
This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line at the center of the shabad. Jap naath din rainaa-ee — remember the Master day and night. Tayree khinthaa do dihaa-ee — your patched coat, the body, lasts "two days," a short while. Time is precious; that is the reason to remember now.
A Question to Sit With
If your days are precious, what would you most want to fill them with?
