Sikhism·Raag Raamkalee·Shabad 38
Verse 3 of 5

Fed By Love, Held By Song

oohaa simrahi kayval naam.
There, they meditate only on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
birlay paavahi oh bisraam.
How rare are those who find this place of rest.
bhojan bhaa-o keertan aaDhaar.
The love of God is their food, and the Kirtan of the Lord's Praise is their support.
nihchal aasan baysumaar. ||2||
They obtain a permanent seat in the infinite. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

There, they remember only the Naam.

How few ever find that place of rest.

Love of the One is their food, and singing its praises is what holds them up.

Their seat in the endless One is steady and never moves.

Love can be food, and song can be shelter.
The deeper layer

Bhojan bhaa-o, keertan aadhaar — love as food, song as support: a whole life sustained by devotion rather than by consuming. Birlay (rare) is honest, not gatekeeping — the door is open, but few come to sit.

A Question to Sit With

What is something that “feeds” you, even though you can't eat it?
