The Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, sits and sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord. There is no disease or sorrow there, no birth or death. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

It is a home of easy peace and joy.

The Sangat sits there, singing the praises of the One.

There is no sickness or sorrow there, no birth and no death.

Where the One is sung together, sorrow cannot settle in.
The deeper layer

This home of peace is not on a map. It is the Sangat (saadhsang), people gathered together to remember the One, wherever praise is sung together. Rog sog... janam maran, illness, grief, birth and death, are named only to say they do not reach there.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the centre of the shabad.

A Question to Sit With

Where is a place, or who is a group, that makes your worries quiet down?
