Heaven Is Where The Name Is Sung

ਅਠਸਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਜਹ ਸਾਧ ਪਗ ਧਰਹਿ ॥
athsath tirath jah saaDh pag Dhareh.
That is the sixty-eight sacred shrines of pilgrimage, where the Holy place their feet,
ਤਹ ਬੈਕੁੰਠੁ ਜਹ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਚਰਹਿ ॥
tah baikunth jah naam uchrahi.
and that is heaven, where the Naam is chanted.
ਸਰਬ ਅਨੰਦ ਜਬ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥

All bliss comes, when one obtains the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan.

I sing continuously, continually, the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

All sixty-eight holy places of pilgrimage are right where the holy set their feet.

And heaven is wherever the Naam is sung.

Every joy comes when you catch sight of the One.

Day after day, I sing the praises of the One.

Sacred ground is wherever the Naam is sung.
The deeper layer

Athsath tirath, the sixty-eight pilgrimage sites, are found wherever the holy stand; baikunth, heaven, is wherever the Naam is sung. The sacred travels with the heart, not the map.

A Question to Sit With

What ordinary place feels special to you because of what happens there?
