The Priceless Diamond of Song

ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਨਿਰਮੋਲਕ ਹੀਰਾ ॥
keertan nirmolak heeraa.
The Kirtan of the Lord's Praise is a priceless diamond.
ਆਨੰਦ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੀਰਾ ॥
aanand gunee gaheeraa.
It is the ocean of bliss and virtue.
ਅਨਹਦ ਬਾਣੀ ਪੂੰਜੀ ॥
anhad banee poonjee.
In the Word of the Guru's Bani is the wealth of the unstruck sound current.
ਸੰਤਨ ਹਥਿ ਰਾਖੀ ਕੂੰਜੀ ॥੨॥
santan hath raakhee koonjee. ||2||
The Saints hold the key to it in their hands. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Kirtan, singing the praises of the One, is a diamond beyond any price.

It is a deep ocean of joy and goodness.

In the Guru's word lives the wealth of the unstruck sound, a music no one plays.

The saints hold the key to it in their hands.

Singing from the heart unlocks a joy that words alone cannot reach.
The deeper layer

Keertan nirmolak heeraa — singing praise is a priceless diamond. Anhad banee — the unstruck sound, the music that plays without anything striking it, heard in deep stillness. The santan, the saints, hold the koonjee, the key: wisdom is passed hand to hand among those who live it.
