The Quiet Cave Where Nothing Shakes

sunn samaaDh gufaa tah aasan.
They sit there, in the cave of deep Samaadhi;
kayval barahm pooran tah baasan.
the unique, perfect Lord God dwells there.
bhagat sang parabh gosat karat.
God holds conversations with His devotees.
tah harakh na sog na janam na marat. ||3||
There is no pleasure or pain, no birth or death there. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

They sit there, in the quiet cave of deep stillness, *Samaadhi*.

The one perfect God lives there.

There God talks with those who love.

There is no pleasure or pain there, no birth or death.

Deep inside is a quiet room where nothing outside can shake you.
The deeper layer

Sunn samaadh gufaa — the cave of sunn, deep silent stillness. Gosat: a close, friendly conversation between the One and those who love. Tah harakh na sog na janam na marat: no seesaw of joy and grief, no birth or death — the unshakable ground of sahaj, natural ease. This cave is a steadiness inside, found in the middle of ordinary life.

A Question to Sit With

Where is the quietest, steadiest place you can find inside yourself?
