The Chains Fall Away

ਤਾ ਕੀ ਗਹੀ ਮਨ ਓਟ ॥
taa kee gahee man ot.
My mind has grasped His Support.
ਬੰਧਨ ਤੇ ਹੋਈ ਛੋਟ ॥
banDhan tay ho-ee chhot.
My bonds have been shattered.
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਜਪਿ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦ ॥
hirdai jap parmaanand.
Within my heart, I meditate on the Lord, the embodiment of supreme bliss.
ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਭਏ ਅਨੰਦ ॥੨॥
man maahi bha-ay anand. ||2||
My mind is filled with ecstasy. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

My mind has taken hold of the One's support.

And the chains that bound me have simply broken apart.

Inside my heart I hold the One of endless joy.

And my mind is full of delight.

Take hold of the right support, and the things that bound you loosen.
The deeper layer

Bandhan tay ho-ee chhot — release from bonds. Parmaanand: the One as supreme bliss held in the heart. The chains here are inner ones — fear, grasping, the sense of separation — and they loosen the moment the support is grasped.

A Question to Sit With

What is a worry you would love to feel break apart and fall away?
