Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Sing the praises of the One.

Here and beyond, your life grows beautiful as you remember the wondrous First One.

Remembering the One makes right here and now more beautiful, not just later.
The deeper layer

Remembrance makes this life beautiful, and the next too. It is no escape from the world.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the centre of the shabad. Halat palat hohi dovai suhaylay — both this world and the next become suhaylaa (beautiful, at ease). Achraj purakh: the wondrous One, awe (wahe) built into the naming.

A Question to Sit With

What makes an ordinary day suddenly feel beautiful to you?
