Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Our dear One is powerful beyond anything, and can do what seems impossible.

Those who love the One never let a single moment go by without remembering.

All day and all night, O my mind, keep the One close.

Keep what you love close all through the day, not just in spare moments.
The deeper layer

The One who can do all things is behind every upside-down wonder. Aisaa samrath: such is the all-able One. Remembering the One can colour the whole day, not only one squeezed-in moment.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line at the centre of the shabad, which anchors the riddles around it. Aath pahar is the full round of the day (the eight watches).

A Question to Sit With

What do you carry with you in your thoughts all day long?
