bolai jhooth kamaavai avraa tarisan na boojhai bahut ha-i-aa.
You tell lies, and do not practice what you preach. Your desires are not satisfied - what a shame.
ਅਸਾਧ ਰੋਗੁ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਸੰਤ ਦੂਖਨਿ ਦੇਹ ਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਮਹਾ ਖਇਆ ॥੩॥
asaaDh rog upji-aa sant dookhan dayh binaasee mahaa kha-i-aa. ||3||
You have contracted an incurable disease; slandering the Saints, your body is wasting away; you are utterly ruined. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

You tell lies, and you don't do what you tell others to do. Your wanting is never satisfied: what a shame.

You have caught a sickness no medicine can cure. Speaking against the saints, your body wears away, and you are ruined completely.

Saying one thing and doing another makes the heart sick.
The deeper layer

Lying, saying one thing and doing another, and speaking against good people make the heart sick. Wanting more never fills you up.

Asaadh rog means a sickness no ordinary medicine can reach. Gurbani often calls ego and ill-will illnesses of the heart, and names the Naam and the One's grace as the medicine.

A Question to Sit With

What helps your heart soften when it has gone hard toward someone?
