There is only One. And the One is found by the True Guru's grace — a gift that is always here, waiting for an open heart.
The same moon still rises. The same stars still come out. The same sun still warms the sky.
The same earth holds us; the same wind still blows.
The times we live in shape how people act — but the sky and the earth stay steady and the same.
The sky and the earth stay the same; what changes from age to age is how people live.
Guru Nanak looks up and around. So-ee chand means the same moon. The same stars come out, and the same sun shines. The earth is the same, and the same wind blows.
So what changes? Jug, the age we live in, shapes jee-a, the living beings. It shapes how people act. The point is simple. Don't blame the stars or the weather. Look at how people are choosing to live.
This begins a longer song about Kali Yuga. In the old Indian way of counting time, a yuga is a great age, and Kali Yuga is the dark and confused one. Think of a classroom. The desks and the board stay the same all year. What makes a class kind or unkind is how the students treat each other.
The world around you stays fairly steady. What is one choice about how you act that is up to you?
