In plain words

Nanak says: I have been given the greatness of the Naam. No deed stands higher than this.

If you go out begging for what is already in your own home, you earn a scolding.

*The greatest treasure is already inside you — look within before searching outside.*
The deeper layer

Nothing we do is greater than holding the Name, and it is already inside us.

Naanak naam milai vadi-aa-ee means Nanak has received the greatness of the Name. Aydoo upar karam nahee means no deed is higher than this.

Then comes a sharp little saying. If you go out begging for something that is ghar hodai, already in your own home, you deserve to be scolded. The lesson is gentle: the treasure is within, so look there first. It is like searching the whole house for your phone while it's in your pocket.

This ends the song about the confused age with hope. The times are hard, but the answer is very close.

A Question to Sit With

What is something good you already have that you sometimes go looking for everywhere else?
