Wrapped in the All-Pervading

ਸਤੁ ਬੰਧਿ ਕੁਪੀਨ ਭਰਿਪੁਰਿ ਲੀਣਾ ਜਿਹਵਾ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਸੀਣਾ ॥੩॥
sat banDh kupeen bharipur leenaa jihvaa rang raseenaa. ||3||
Wearing the loin-cloth of chastity, He remains absorbed in the all-pervading Lord; His tongue enjoys the taste of God's Love. ||3||

In plain words

Wearing purity as a yogi wears a plain loincloth, the Guru rests in the One who fills everything.

The Guru's tongue delights in the taste of that love.

Simplicity is being so full of love there is no room to grasp.
The deeper layer

A yogi's plain cloth can become something worn inside.

A kupeen was the simple cloth a yogi wore around the waist. It was a sign of holding back from worldly wants. Guru Nanak says the cloth that counts is worn on the inside.

Sat banDh kupeen — let truth and self-control be your cloth. And self-control comes from being bharipur leenaa, soaked in the One who fills everything, everywhere.

Then: jihvaa rang raseenaa — the tongue is full of the taste of love. Jihvaa means tongue.

Think of how a sponge dropped in water fills up all the way. Nothing has to be squeezed in. A heart soaked in the One is like that. The outer sign becomes an inner fullness.

A Question to Sit With

What does it feel like to want less because you already feel full?
