He abides in the Tenth Gate, and looks equally upon all; He is imbued with the unstruck sound current of the Shabad. ||2||

In plain words

The awake heart lives in the highest place inside, and looks at everyone the same.

It is colored through by a music that plays without anyone playing it.

A heart at peace can look at every person with the same kind, even gaze.
The deeper layer

An awake heart sees everyone as equal.

Rahai gagan pur — such a person lives in gagan pur, the "sky-city." That is a picture of the highest, clearest awareness inside us. It is like standing on a hilltop where you can see everything.

From up there, the view changes. Darisat samaisar — they look at everyone with the same even eyes. No one is ranked above anyone else. This is Guru Nanak's great teaching of equality, lived from the inside out.

Then comes anhat sabad, the "unstruck sound." Most music comes from something being hit or plucked, like a drum or a guitar string. This music needs no hand at all. It is a quiet joy that hums inside.

Think of a song stuck happily in your head all day. The awake heart is colored through by music like that.

A Question to Sit With

What would change if you looked at everyone with the very same eyes?
