A Seat in the City of Wonder

ਸਿਵ ਨਗਰੀ ਮਹਿ ਆਸਣੁ ਅਉਧੂ ਅਲਖੁ ਅਗੰਮੁ ਅਪਾਰੀ ॥੮॥
siv nagree meh aasan a-oDhoo alakh agamm apaaree. ||8||
The true hermit obtains a seat in the City of God, the invisible, inaccessible, infinite. ||8||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The true hermit finds a seat in the City of Wonder --

the One who is unseen, beyond reach, and without limit.

The most wonderful place to sit is a stillness you carry inside you.
The deeper layer

Siv nagree — the City of Shiva; here, a City of Wonder, the inner home of awareness; aoudhoo — the true hermit (the Gurmukh). Alakh agamm apaaree — unseen, unreachable, infinite. The hermit's true seat is not a cave but the boundless inner presence.

A Question to Sit With

Where is a place — inside or out — where you feel a sense of wonder?
