The Body as a Harp

ਰਵਿ ਸਸਿ ਲਉਕੇ ਇਹੁ ਤਨੁ ਕਿੰਗੁਰੀ ਵਾਜੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਨਿਰਾਰੀ ॥੭॥
rav sas la-ukay ih tan kinguree vaajai sabad niraaree. ||7||
The right and left nostrils, the sun and the moon channels, are the strings of the body-harp; they vibrate the wondrous melody of the Shabad. ||7||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The two channels of the breath, like sun and moon, are the strings of the body-harp,

and they sound the wondrous melody of the Word.

Even your breathing can be part of the music, if you listen for it.
The deeper layer

Rav sas — sun and moon, the right and left breath-channels (the Yogic nadis); ih tan kinguree — this body as a harp. Sabad niraaree — the wondrous, matchless melody of the Word. The Yogis' breath-science becomes an image: your very breathing is an instrument playing the Word.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever noticed your own steady breathing calming you down?
