The treasure of devotional worship is revealed to the Gurmukh; the True Guru has inspired me to understand this understanding. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

There is a treasure of devotion — a heart that loves and remembers the One.

This treasure opens up for the one who turns toward the Guru. The True Guru helped me understand it, and now I understand.

A heart full of devotion is a treasure.
The deeper layer

There is a treasure hidden in plain sight, and the Guru helps us see it.

Bhagat khajaanaa means the treasure of devotion — a heart that loves and remembers the One. It opens up for the gurmukh, the person whose heart turns toward the Guru's teaching.

But the Guru is careful about how that happens. Satgur boojh bujhaa-ee — the True Guru made me understand. The knowing did not come from being clever. It was woken up inside by someone who already knew.

Think of a friend showing you a hidden path in a park you have walked a hundred times. The path was always there. You just needed someone to point. That is grace: a gift received, not a prize you won.

A Question to Sit With

What is a “treasure” that isn't money?
