Sikhism·Raag Raamkalee·Shabad 92
Verse 24 of 28

Praise Without a Single Word

mansaa maar man sahj samaanaa bin rasnaa ustat karaa-ee. ||23||
Conquering desire, the mind is absorbed in intuitive ease, and then one chants the Lord's Praises without speaking. ||23||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Quiet your grabbing wants, and the mind settles into a deep, easy calm.

Then you praise the One without saying a single word.

The deepest praise sometimes needs no words at all.
The deeper layer

Mansaa maar man sahj samaanaa — with desire stilled, the mind rests in sahaj. Then bin rasnaa ustat — praise without a tongue: the wordless praise of a heart at ease, which speaks louder than any spoken hymn.

A Question to Sit With

Can you thank something without speaking? How?
