Keep Your Mind in One Place

ਭਰਮਿ ਨ ਭੂਲਹੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਇਕ ਠਾਈ ॥੮॥
bharam na bhoolahu satgur sayvhu man raakho ik thaa-ee. ||8||
Do not be deluded by doubt; serve the True Guru, and keep your mind steady in one place. ||8||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Don't let doubt fool you and spin you in circles. Serve the True Guru.

Keep your mind steady, resting in one place.

A mind that rests in one place is a mind at peace.
The deeper layer

Bharam na bhoolahu — do not be led astray by bharam, the doubt that scatters. Serving the True Guru and keeping the mind ik thaa-ee (in one place) is the cure for a mind pulled in every direction.

A Question to Sit With

What scatters your attention the most?
