Sikhism·Raag Raamkalee·Shabad 94
Verse 24 of 31

Recognizing the Giver

satgur daataa tinai pachhaataa jis no kirpaa tumaaree. ||23||
The True Guru, the Great Giver, is revealed to those upon whom You bestow Your Grace, O Lord. ||23||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The True Guru, the Great Giver, is recognized

by those You bless with Your kindness, O One.

Even the eyes that recognize the Giver are a gift from the Giver.
The deeper layer

Satgur daataa tinai pachhaataa jis no kirpaa tumaaree — the true Guru, the Giver, is recognized only by those upon whom grace (kirpaa) rests. Recognition itself is grace. You cannot force yourself to see the Giver; the seeing is one more thing given.

A Question to Sit With

Who has quietly been giving to you longer than you noticed?
