Sikhism·Raag Raamkalee·Shabad 94
Verse 28 of 31

Everything, Gladly Given

tan man vaaree vaar ghumaa-ee apnay gur vitahu balihaaree. ||27||
I offer my body and mind in sacrifice to my Guru; I am a sacrifice to Him. ||27||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I offer my body and mind to my Guru, gladly, again and again.

I give my whole self to my Guru.

Deep gratitude naturally wants to give everything back.
The deeper layer

Tan man vaaree... apnay gur vitahu balihaaree — offering body and mind, a sacrifice (balihaar) to the Guru. Balihaar is the language of overflowing gratitude, not grim duty. When something has given you your life, giving everything back feels like the only fitting reply.

A Question to Sit With

What has given you so much that you would gladly give something back to it?
