Some spend them clinging to romance.
And the saints are absorbed in the Name of the One alone.
Arguing, tasting, longing: wanting pulls a heart in many directions. The Name gathers it to one steady place.
Kaahoo bihaavai bayd ar baad — some spend life arguing about holy books. The Bayd are the Vedas, old holy books of India. Baad means argument. Some people argue about the words and miss what the words point to.
Kaahoo bihaavai rasnaa saad — some spend it on rasnaa saad, the tongue's tastes. One snack, then the next.
Kaahoo bihaavai lapat sang naaree — some spend it clinging to romance and longing for someone. The verse is not blaming anyone. The point is getting stuck in wanting.
