In plain words

The Guru's Word sets a beautiful thing in motion inside you: goodness begins to show itself in how you live. When you speak the Guru's Bani again and again, the One comes to live in your mind.

The grip of illusion loosens, the tangle of doubt is cut clean, and a light wakes up inside you. Those who treasure goodness as their wealth meet the Guru. Nanak says: with a natural ease, they settle into the Naam and rest there.

Living the Guru's Word wakes a light that was always inside you.
The deeper layer

Pauri 2. Continual utterance of the Guru's word (gurbaanee sad uchrai), a loving remembrance. Maya's power departs (sakat ga-ee), doubt is cut (bharam kati-aa), the inner Light is awakened (siv jot jagaa-i-aa). Those whose treasure is goodness (potai punn) meet the Guru and are absorbed, with sahaj (natural ease), into the Name.

A Question to Sit With

What good thing, if you did it every day, would slowly change who you are?
