All Strung on One Thread

jaa kai soot paro-ay jantaa tis parabh kaa jas gaavhu.
All creatures are strung on His Thread; sing the Praises of that God.
simar thaakur jin sabh kichh deenaa aan kahaa peh jaavhu. ||1||
Meditate in remembrance on that Lord and Master who gives you everything. Why would you go to anyone else? ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Every living thing is strung along one single thread, like beads on a string, held by the One — so sing the praise of that One.

Remember the One who has already given you everything you have. Why would you go knocking on any other door?

Every living thing is a bead on the same single thread.
The deeper layer

One thread holds every living thing together.

Jaa kai soot paro-ay jantaa — all creatures strung on one thread — is a vivid picture of the Oneness holding everything together. Jin sabh kichh deenaa — who gave everything — grounds gratitude; aan kahaa peh jaavhu, why go elsewhere, gathers scattered hope back to the One.

A Question to Sit With

If everyone is on the same thread, what does that make us to each other?
