Raag Soohee
Commentary

Raag Soohee, Chhant, Mehl 5 (Guru Arjan)

The One's home overflows with everything you need; held by such a Father, how could you ever feel apart? — wonder upon wonder.

The Arc

A chhant of protected trust and wonder: the all-powerful Father whose home overflows with nectar (P0); union so complete that separation loses its footing, and no one is left without support (P1); good days arrived, the One who knows the heart from within holding it close (P2); and the welling-up of wisdom into pure wonder — the One within meeting the One, the wave returning to its ocean (P3).

Key Vocabulary

  • baabul — a strong, protecting parent; here the One as Father.
  • tayk — the support, something steady to hold.
  • antarjaamee — the One who knows the heart from inside.
  • bisam / bismaad — wonder, awe; the settled state of seeing the One everywhere.
  • barahmai barahm mili-aa — God meeting God; the spark rejoining its source.

Themes and Cross-Connections

The warm, protected trust of Guru Arjan's Soohee keynote is at full strength here. The wonder (bismaad) of P3 — the wave returning to the ocean it never left — is the batch's clearest statement of Ik, oneness itself.

For Raag Soohee

Love as being safely held: the Beloved as strong parent, and the household of the heart overflowing.

Translation Notes

No significant softening required; the imagery is warm and protective throughout.
