Raag Soohee

This first Soohee shabad of Guru Nanak opens the raag by turning the search inward: the One abides within and does not wander outside, so why trade nectar for poison? The Rahao gives the practice — hold this wisdom, and become one who serves the True One. The verses note that everyone recites wisdom while the world stays bound, that true service opens the eyes to the One pervading everything, and the close dissolves all ranking: I am not good, no one is bad; the One alone carries us across.
