Build the raft of meditation and self-discipline, to carry you across the river.

There will be no ocean, and no rising tides to stop you; this is how comfortable your path shall be. ||1||

In plain words

Build yourself a little raft out of steady practice and quiet self-discipline.

With it, the crossing is calm — no wild ocean, no crashing waves to stop you. The path can be gentle when you carry the right thing.

Steady practice makes even the hardest crossing feel calm.
The deeper layer

jap tap kaa banDh bayrhulaa — a raft lashed from practice and discipline carries you across so gently that naa sarvar naa oochhlai, no ocean and no rising tide can stop you. The crossing image opens the shabad.

A Question to Sit With

What is a small daily habit that keeps you steady?
